  • Create a master plan for the parish that unites the community behind a flood loss prevention strategy for the long term within the next 36 months    View Projects
  • Provide financing and affordable construction options for citizens whose homes were destroyed by hurricane Rita utilizing Community Development Financial Institutions and Community Development Corporations.
Economic and Workforce Development
  • Diversify local economy by helping farmers to develop and entice new industries to Vermilion Parish and the surrounding region within six months.    View Projects
  • Determine necessary structural improvements for the Twin Parish Port in the Town of Delcambre within 12 months.    View Projects
  • Increase the capacity for recognizing, meeting, and planning for local challenges by providing leadership training within 9 months.    View Projects

Public Health and Healthcare
  • Provide health care services, facilities and workforce training in order to support a health care system that meets the changed needs resulting from hurricanes Katrina and Rita, by 2012.    View Projects
Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Mitigate water treatment plant infrastructure and waste streams located in floodplain within 36 months.    View Projects
  • Provide centralized wastewater collection and treatment in north Vermilion parish within 36 months.

  • Develop a land use plan and implement highway design guidelines for entrances onto and off of LA 167 that increase vehicle safety within 36 months.

Education
  • Move two schools to land off the flood plain and mitigate the three remaining schools from future risk in order to serve the present and future educational needs of the parish, and provide an anchor for economic development in the northeast quadrant of the parish within three years.    View Projects

Public Safety
  • Provide generators for public safety facilities in Maurice, Kaplan, and Gueydan within the next 6 months to provide essential services during storm events.
  • Provide safe and sanitary shelters within 12 months for Parish residents outside the floodplain during evacuation orders.
