Lafayette Parish

Recovery Vision
Lafayette Parish is proactively working to create a safer, stronger, and more sustainable community that meets the housing and infrastructure needs of current and future residents.  Lafayette residents appreciate their distinct culture and traditions, and strive to achieve a high quality of life personally and as a community.  Lafayette Parish has been put in a unique position to recover and rebuild as a community while assisting other Parishes and citizens in their own recovery.  This enables the community to grow and prosper, creating a community with:

Sound Infrastructure
•  Adequate transportation for local residents and businesses on a daily basis and during times of emergency;
•  Efficient drainage and flood control measures that allow Lafayette Parish to protect citizens and continue to grow into the future;
•  Affordable and acceptable housing for current and future residents of the Parish.

Stronger Communities
•  Comprehensive plans and programs that provide protection to population and property in endangered areas and a roadmap for future growth and development;
•  Agencies and locations centrally located to enhance guidance to emergency responders and citizens, for the most efficient use of parish resources.

Improved Quality of Life for all Residents
•  Sustainable growth that ensures a diverse economy, safe homes and neighborhoods, and attention to the unique environmental challenges facing Lafayette Parish and the State of Louisiana;
•  Community centers that embrace the unique culture and needs of all residents in Lafayette Parish, regardless of age, race, or creed.
