The people of Calcasieu Parish pulled together to weather Hurricane Rita - neighbor helping neighbor. We learned many valuable lessons through this disaster. We are a resilient people who want to rebuild and fully return to our normal lives. We want to be better and stronger than we were before. Calcasieu Parish has been given a unique opportunity to recover and rebuild our lives and our towns in a way that makes us stronger and able to withstand future storms, affords us better life opportunities, and adds to the beauty and unique environments we want to protect.
